From Copenhagen, comes the new, ground-breaking hosiery brand. Working to create sustainable fashion that combines quality and elegance, the brand has launched a collection of luxury wardrobe staples that will last a lifetime. We caught up with founder Katrine to learn all about the brand and the future of fashion. Here’s everything you need to know about Dear Denier and their sustainable hosiery and wardrobe staples…

Q: Where did the idea for luxury, sustainable fashion come from?

A: Whilst working in sales, I visited Scandinavian stores looking for fashionable, functional and durable hosiery with a sustainable approach. I found it almost impossible to find a hosiery brand with values and products matching my needs and mindset. This was my motivation for launching Dear Denier.

Today Dear Denier represents “a new generation of hosiery”. We specialise in functional products for modern consumers who want comfortable and durable products made with thought for the planet and people.

Q: Why is sustainability so important to you as a brand?

A: Hosiery was once a luxury silk product made to last. However, in recent decades hosiery has become the single use plastic of the fashion industry. Our aim is to make steps in the industry to do better.

Our mission is to overcome environmental and ethical challenges of traditional hosiery production and make the most sustainable products possible without compromising on quality. This approach merges science and fashion. We work closely with innovative yarn and hosiery manufacturers as well as with scientists in the field of sustainability. These methods enable us to significantly reduce CO2 emissions, pollution, water and energy consumption.

Q: What do you think the future of sustainable fashion will look like?

A: I hope the slow fashion movement continues to grow. Producing clothing which takes into consideration all aspects of the supply chain and, in doing so, aims to respect people, the environment and animals. It also means spending more time on the design process, ensuring that each piece is made to a high quality and made with love.

At Dear Denier when we add a new ‘fashion’ style into our range, we aim for it to be a timeless classic. And for it to be in our range for a long period of time. All materials used in our products are certified eco friendly, and are working on making it more easy for our customers to know what is in each product easily too. Some of our best selling styles follow this same recipe.

Q: What is the most important thing for people to understand about Dear Denier as a brand?

We try to be the most sustainable brand at any given time. We love our planet, and we are always looking into new practaces/yarns to do right by it. We aim to offer products which have a positive impact on the textile industry. Our products are not just made from sustainable materials and manufacturing. They are built to last and are extremely durable.

Q: What’s your favourite piece from the collection?

The Emili Bow tight. We love the unique bow design, but also the adaptive seamless waistband. The waistband is produced in a factory who manufacture activewear, it offers the wearer light compression helping you to feel great whilst wearing it. The seamless aspect also means that you will not see any seams if you are wearing a tight dress too.
