SECRETS OF A TANNING SPECIALIST
Wanna look like you just got back from the beach – no sun or skin damage required! When it comes to sunless tanning, every tan-a-holic knows it’s important to follow the tanning commandments to score a natural faux glow. Follow our guide to achieve the perfect bronze bod in a breeze!
First things first! Prep your skin by massaging our Super Fine Skin Polish onto dry skin in large circular motions to slough away flakey skin. Shave your legs and schedule your wax, manicure, pedicure and hair appointments before applying self-tanner. All of these treatments can erase the tan if done after your application.
Once you are clean and ready to tan, wait about 10-15 minutes after your shower for your body to fully dry off. To prevent self-tanner from clinging to the skin, apply a light barrier lotion to the dry areas of your body – elbows, palms, ankles, knees and feet. You should never moisturizer all over!
When it comes to picking your potion, opt for a tanner that works for your skin tone and a formula that is easy for you to use. Lotions and mousses work great on every skin type when applied with a tanning mitt. Pump a 4-5 dollops onto a mitt, begin at the bottom and work your way up to prevent smudges. If you find that a certain area of your body is harder to tan than others, apply a second application.
Patience is key! You must wait 6-8 hours to allow your tan to fully develop before taking a rinse off. However, the longer you wait the better, as your tan gradually develops into a darker golden tone. When it comes to showering, you must rinse and only rinse until the water runs clear. Using soaps and washing your hair will cause your sunless glow to fade. Afterwards, lather yourself in our Moisture Boost Body Moisturizer to help extend the life of your tan.
To maintain your golden girl status, we love using our Fabulous Self Tanning Gradual Tan Lotion to prolong your flawless, streak-free sunless tan! Avoid using any retinols, acne treatments or oil-based lotions while tanning, as they can dissolve and break down the tan. Sadly, all good tans must come to end, so when they do and it’s time to hit restart, go back to step one to begin again.
